Innovation PC-12 NGX
The brand new PC-12 NGX features an improved engine, smarter avionics and a completely redesigned cabin with bigger windows. This makes the third generation of the PC-12 the most advanced single-engine turboprop of all times. Combined with the experience of the worldwide PC-12 fleet of over 1,700 aircraft with more than seven million hours flown and the leading customer service, the latest technological advances are now being incorporated into the PC-12 NGX.
Digital control
Flights with single-engine turboprops consistently require a tried-and-tested engine: the centrepiece of the PC-12 NGX is the new PT6E-67XP from Pratt & Whitney Canada. The improved engine now features an electronic propeller and engine control system – a world’s first in this market segment. Furthermore, the new “Propeller Low Speed” mode significantly reduces the noise levels in the cabin, resulting in greater passenger comfort. The new turboprop engine increases the maximum cruise speed of the PC-12 NGX to 537 kilometres per hour (290 knots). The PC-12 NGX also has advanced features such as Prist®-free fuel operation. Smart cockpit environment
The PC-12 NGX comes with a number of new functions for the pilot: the PC-24-inspired Advanced Cockpit Environment (ACE™) system from Honeywell features improved avionics. In another world’s first for the turboprop segment, Pilatus has combined the performance of a cursor control unit with the versatility of an intelligent touchscreen controller in a professional cockpit environment. Thanks to the automatic thrust control known as the “Autothrottle”, the pilot’s workload is also reduced, resulting in greater safety. At the same time an optimum, automatic output adjustment is guaranteed in every phase of the flight.
New cabin
To improve the flight experience in the PC-12 NGX, the cabin windows have been increased in size by ten percent, giving the cabin more natural light. Combined with the dark windshield panelling, the rectangular shape of the new windows, also adapted from the PC-24, results in a distinctive and modern appearance. The completely redesigned cabin comes with six different BMW Designworks interiors. The specially developed, extremely light passenger seats offer optimum ergonomics, and can also be converted into a flat bed if required. The arrangement of the seats provides the maximum freedom of movement, and gives the passengers more headroom, also thanks to the newly designed cabin ceiling. The air conditioning system also provides a better and quieter distribution of fresh air.
Reduced operating costs
With the PC-12 NGX, the maintenance intervals have been extended to 600 flight hours, leading to a considerable savings with the upkeep. The maintenance interval (time between overhaul) for the engine can also be increased from 4,000 to 5,000 hours, further reducing the operating costs of the PC-12 NGX and making it the undisputed leader in its class.
Seat technology
On the occasion of the presentation in Las Vegas, Markus Bucher, CEO of Pilatus, made the following comments: “We are pleased to be able to present the new PC-12 NGX today. To further consolidate our position as market leader in this segment, we are always on the look-out for innovative solutions that serve the safety, comfort and productivity of our customers. The PC-12 NGX is another flagship project and is a testament to the cutting-edge technology of Pilatus, Pratt & Whitney Canada and Honeywell. Together, we have taken the best, and made it even better. And our customers won’t have to wait years to enjoy these advantages – the PC-12 NGX is available today.” The base price of the PC-12 NGX starting from 2020 will be $ 4,390,000, with the frequently preferred Executive configuration being available from a price of $ 5,369,000.» The base price of the PC-12 NGX starting from 2020 will be $ 4,390,000, with the frequently preferred Executive configuration being available from a price of $ 5,369,000.
